The Pilots hit the road this past weekend for a few out of conference games in Ashland, Oregon against Neveda and Santa Cruz. Saturday proved to be the tougher of the two games with the Pilots unable to dig deep and crawl back against a tough Nevada squad. The half time score was 4-4 but a huge face off run to start the second half kept the defense tired and the offense unable to help. The final score was 12-7 in favor of Nevada and while the Pilots were down they were certainly not out.
The first half of Sunday’s game against Santa Cruz was similar to the previous day in that Portland found them selves in a tie game at the half. With the score knotted at 10, the Pilots rallied behind some serious energy from the bench and a much-improved face off performance to finish the game with a final score of 18-13. Although the Pilots were looking for two wins on the road, the victory on Sunday made for a much easier drive home.
Junior midfielder Chris Timm led the charge tallying 11 points (8G, 3A) on the weekend. Freshman goaltender Evans Lineweaver was a force in net accumulating 24 total saves between both contests. A huge shout out to freshman midfielder Savon Sengsavanh for scoring his first collegiate goal!
The entire Pilots team sends their most sincere thanks to the Timm Family for hosting everyone on the way down to Ashland. You guys are awesome!
