Pilots Protect Their Home Field Against Humboldt State

Coming off a season opening loss against the University of Montana, the Pilots bounced back in a big way against Humboldt State University.  HSU scored first and that would be the only time during the game they would have the lead.  Although the Pilots lead nearly the entire game, the grit and effort HSU displayed never allowed Portland to feel comfortable with the lead.  It was a great game to for the fans with plenty of scoring and very few penalties.

The final score of the game was 16-8 in favor of the Pilots.  Portland was lead by junior midfielder Nolan Ripple, who finished with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Long stick midfielder Tyler Mills had a solid day as well racking up 2 assists. Freshman goalie Evans Lineweaver had a great day in net with 11 saves.

The Pilots head to Ashland this weekend to face some out of conference competition against Nevada and UC Santa Cruz.  Wish us luck as we head out on the road against some great teams.

GO PILOTS!
